I enjoy working with directors and producers to find and help license the right music for film and TV projects. These are some recent films I’ve worked on.
Beats
Director: Brian Welsh
Production: Rosetta Productions/Sixteen Films, 2019
Credit: Music Supervisor
Set in 1994, just as the Criminal Justice Bill attempted to place restrictions on Scotland’s rave culture and the free party movement, Beats is an award-winning coming-of-age tale set to a soundtrack as eclectic and electrifying as the scene it gave birth to. Artists licensed on behalf of the film’s music director Keith McIvor (Optimo) include Carl Craig, LFO, the Prodigy, Model 500 and Plastikman.
Lynn + Lucy
Director: Fyzal Boulifa
Production: Rosetta Productions/BBC Films, 2019
Credit: Music Supervisor
Worked closely with director Fyzal Boulifa to select and license the music for his debut longform feature Lynn + Lucy. Set in a satellite town north of London, the film explores the intense relationship between two women who find their friendship is tested in extreme circumstances. The nature of the film called for diegetic music throughout. Artists used include Paris Hilton, Billie Piper and Danny L Harle.
Distant Planet: The Six Chapters of Simona
Director: Josh Blaaberg
Production: Gucci/Frieze, 2018
Credit: Executive Producer and Music Supervisor
Part of Gucci and Frieze’s Second Summer of Love series, Josh Blaaberg’s Distant Planet is an elegant docu-fiction hybrid that explores notions of memory and fantasy centred around the culture of Italo-disco and features real stars of the genre including Fred Ventura and Simona Zanini. Artists licensed include Decadance, M Like Moon, Radio Movie, M&G and The Creatures.
